Did you know that ”Ett” means one in Swedish, and ”Dwa” means two in Polish? That might give you a hint about in which order we’ve built our gigafactories, and where they are located.
Skellefteå, Sweden
Skellefteå is home to Europe’s first homegrown battery gigafactory, Northvolt Ett, hosting both cathode active material and cell production. Right next to the factory you will find Revolt Ett, the largest battery recycling facility of its kind in Europe.
Västerås, Sweden
In Västerås you will find Northvolt Labs, our R&D facility, where we are creating the next generation of battery technology. Northvolt Labs is also home to the Revolt Pilot Plant, where we are working hard to make our recycling process even better.
Gdańsk, Poland
We assemble our battery modules and packs at Northvolt Dwa, in Gdansk. This is also where we are currently building Europe's largest factory for energy storage solutions.
Heide, Germany
Northvolt Drei will be located in Heide, Germany. Powered by renewable energy, Northvolt Drei will produce enough green batteries to power one million electric vehicles.
Gothenburg, Sweden
Gothenburg is home to our joint-venture with Volvo Cars. Here, we are building both a battery gigafactory and an R&D center to create the future of battery cells, tailor-made for Volvo Cars.
Borlänge, Sweden
Located in Borlänge, Sweden, Northvolt will transform an old paper mill into a cathode active material production plant, with a capacity to produce up to 100 GWh of material per year.
Montreal region, Canada
We’re establishing a new battery gigafactory in Montreal, Canada — Northvolt Six. Powered by 100% renewable energy, Northvolt Six will produce batteries for one million electric vehicles each year.
San Leandro, USA
In San Leandro you will find Northvolt’s advanced technology group, Cuberg. Here, we are developing next-generation lithium-metal cell technology to power electric aviation.
Stockholm, Sweden
Our corporate functions are located in Stockholm, at volthouse. Also in Stockholm is the Northvolt Systems Engineering Hub, where we develop battery systems products, including modules and packs.
Fredrikstad, Norway
Fredrikstad is home to Hydrovolt, our joint venture with Norsk Hydro. Here, we recycle batteries into materials that can be sent back into production, in a sustainable way.
Setubal, Portugal
Our lithium-conversion plant, Aurora Lithium, is located in Setubal. Here, we work alongside Galp to create a sutainable supply of lithium in Europe.
